Graham Gregory, Peterborough—Graham Gregory passed away recently, leaving his family and community in profound sorrow. Graham was a loving husband and devoted father, known for his warmth and strength.
Graham’s health journey began in January 2024 when he fell ill overnight. After a week of tests at Peterborough hospital, he was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Liver Disease and urgently needed a liver transplant. Graham was transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he underwent multiple tests and was placed on the waiting list. Remarkably, within four days, a suitable liver became available, and Graham successfully underwent the transplant. Unfortunately, complications arose, requiring another surgery which delayed his recovery.
Despite several weeks of hope and travel back and forth to the hospital, Graham’s condition deteriorated. On May 10th, he was rushed back to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with severe jaundice. Further tests revealed devastating news: Graham had developed lymphoma in his bile duct and a mass under his liver, alongside an EBV virus caused by the transplant. Despite four rounds of chemotherapy and numerous antibiotics, Graham’s body could no longer absorb the necessary medication and nutrients. Honoring his wish to be comfortable, Graham passed away peacefully at home at 00:47 on Wednesday, July 24th.
Graham’s daughter, Nicola Gregory, has organized a fundraiser to support Addenbrooke’s Liver Transplant Association, in gratitude for the excellent care they provided. So far, £80 out of the £300 goal has been raised through generous donations from Neil Prichard (£20), Nicola Daniels (£10), and Nicola Gregory (£50).
The Peterborough community has shown an outpouring of support and sympathy for the Gregory family during this difficult time. Graham’s memory will live on through the love he gave and the lives he touched.
