Glen Icanberry, Riverside, CA—The Riverside community is mourning the passing of Glen Icanberry, a retired Santa Fe Railway employee, who passed away on September 23rd at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Glen, 67 years old, had been battling lung and heart disease for the past year.
Born in Casper, Wyoming, on January 17, 1957, Glen’s love for railroading began early, likely influenced by living near train tracks during his family’s frequent relocations. After college, he immediately joined Santa Fe Railway, working in Calwa and Fresno. Dispatching became his favorite position during his career, which spanned until the BN/Santa Fe merger. He later worked at AMTRAK Reservations in Riverside before retiring in 2002.
Glen’s passion for trains never waned. He was known for chasing trains across the West as an avid photographer and volunteering as a board director at the San Bernardino Rail Museum. His kind heart extended to both people and animals, with a special love for his cats, including his beloved last kitty, Fenner.
Friends of Glen have organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, and David Arthur has already generously donated $200 in Glen’s honor.
Rest in peace, Glen Icanberry. Your legacy as a true railroad man and kind soul will be forever cherished. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
