Gina Tulauan, Red Deer, AB—Gina Tulauan passed away on Thursday, 23 August 2024, due to brain cancer. Her passing has left her family and community in deep sorrow. Gina’s death came suddenly, following a brief period where she had lost her appetite and was mostly bedridden. Despite efforts to diagnose and treat her condition, which initially seemed to be vertigo, it was soon discovered that she had an advanced brain tumor. The progression was swift, and within two days, Gina took her last breath at the University of Alberta Hospital.

In memory of Gina, a fundraiser has been organized by her family to cover the hospital bills from her time in the ICU and to fulfill her last wish of repatriating her body to the Philippines. So far, $170 has been raised out of the $48,000 goal, thanks to the generosity of four donors, including Marc Jonelle Pacamalan and mary ann edjidian.

The news of Gina’s passing has prompted an outpouring of support and condolences on social media. Azzej Ong shared his sentiments, urging friends to assist the family in any way they can. "Rest in peace po Nanay," wrote one user, while another expressed their sympathy to the family.
