George "Jack" Taylor Jr., Bloxom, VA— George "Jack" Taylor Jr. passed away on December 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a cherished member of the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company, serving the community with unwavering dedication as a firefighter, lieutenant, and chief engineer. A second-generation firefighter, Jack followed in the footsteps of his late father, continuing a legacy of service and commitment.
Jack’s loss has left a profound impact on his family and the fire department. He is survived by his wife and four school-aged children, who now face the difficult task of moving forward without his support. Jack’s devotion to his community was unmatched, and his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him.
A fundraiser has been established by Ashlyn Belote to support Jack’s family with funeral costs and other expenses. The community has responded with overwhelming generosity, raising $600 so far, with donations from Paul Parks, Terry Swain, Sands Gayle, Brandon Daniel, and Jason Taylor.
Messages of support have poured in from friends and colleagues. Kenneth Ayres expressed, "Jack was a good man and we will definitely miss him," while Glen Curtis shared, "See you on the other side, lil Jack. You’ll be missed by all who knew you."
Visitation will be held at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on December 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A graveside service will take place on December 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with Reverend Mark Layne officiating. A reception will follow at the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Company.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack’s family and the Bloxom community during this heartbreaking time.
