Gabi Jacobsen, Amberg—The community is heartbroken as the Jacobsen family announces the passing of Gabi Jacobsen on Friday, 02 August 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. Gabi, who had been fighting an aggressive form of cancer for nearly four years, was known for her unwavering strength and loving spirit.
Gabi’s journey with cancer began nearly four years ago, with the disease initially affecting her breast. Despite undergoing numerous treatments and surgeries, the cancer spread to her brain six months ago. Though doctors successfully removed multiple metastases, Gabi’s condition began to decline rapidly just three months later. Tragically, six weeks ago, the cancer spread to her spinal cord and cerebrospinal fluid, leaving her with limited treatment options.
On 10 July, the family received the devastating news that nothing more could be done for Gabi, and she was placed under palliative care. Her condition continued to worsen, and she was admitted to the palliative care unit twelve days ago after losing the ability to swallow. Within just a few days, her health deteriorated rapidly, and she passed away on 02 August 2024.
Gabi was a loving mother and wife, married for 22 years, and leaves behind five children and her grieving husband. Her family remembers her as a fighter, always there for her children, her husband, and her friends. The Jacobsen family is struggling with the loss, both emotionally and financially, as they now face the burden of funeral costs.
To help alleviate this burden, a fundraiser has been organized by Natascha Von Platen, with a goal of €6,000. The family is grateful for any support, whether financial or through sharing their story.
