Francisco Palacio, Sonoma, CA — Francisco "Pancho" Palacio passed away after a prolonged battle with illness on December 19, 2024, at the age of 53. He had been battling endocarditis, a bacterial infection that had severely affected his heart and other vital organs for nearly a decade. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and medical procedures, Francisco’s health continued to deteriorate, ultimately leading to his passing.
Known for his unwavering faith and positive attitude, Francisco never lost hope, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. He was the oldest of five brothers and a beloved uncle to nine nieces and nephews. His journey included a successful heart valve replacement in 2015, and although he managed to overcome many challenges, the illness returned again in 2019, and then once more in 2024, leading to organ failure and ultimately, his passing.
Francisco’s final days were marked by a period of hospitalization at Marin General Hospital. Despite a heroic fight, he succumbed to his illness shortly before undergoing his third surgery on December 19. His loved ones were able to say their goodbyes during his final moments.
To honor his memory, a fundraiser has been organized by his brother, Victor Palacio, to cover funeral expenses and help send Francisco’s ashes to his daughter in Mexico. The community has already shown their support, with numerous donations being made in memory of Francisco.
We express our deepest condolences to Francisco’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
