Frances L. Hopkins Eves, Milan, IL Community Remembers Devoted Animal Advocate and Beloved Family Member

Frances L. Hopkins Eves, Milan, IL— Frances L. Hopkins Eves, cherished by her community and family, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and advocacy for animals. Known for her love of dogs, gardening, and her memorable humor, Frances’s warmth touched the lives of many around her. She was 83 years old.

Born on March 19, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, Frances was the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy Wrede Hopkins. Her father served in WWII and tragically passed away during his service. Frances later retired from the Palm Springs United School District in Palm Springs, California, and returned to Milan, where she continued to be active in her community.

Frances is lovingly remembered by her children, Chris Bravo of Coal Valley, IL; Cheryl Mutum of Milan, IL; Russell Eves of Palm Springs, CA; and Patti Nelson of Cary, NC, along with her 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Carol Gray and Laura Hopkins of Detroit, MI, also survive her, while her late son, Bob Eves Jr., and brothers, Bob and Henry Hopkins, preceded her in passing.

Christine Bravo, one of Frances’s children, has set up a fundraiser to honor Frances’s memory and fulfill her final wishes. The family hopes to establish memorials in her name at her local Animal Welfare Center and Conservation Club, and to contribute to various charities she supported.
