Floyd James Owsley, affectionately known as "Red," passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spring Lake. He was a beloved figure in his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Floyd had been struggling with serious health issues, including a rapidly progressing eye infection, and had been suffering from COPD. Despite the severity of his condition, Floyd remained determined, even arguing up until the last moments that he was fine and did not need hospital care. His family had recently arranged for him to move into a new home that would provide better living conditions, with his own bathroom and space to ensure he received the care he needed. Unfortunately, his passing came before he could fully settle into the new home.
His daughter, Hannah Owsley, has set up a fundraiser to assist with the funeral expenses, as the family is facing financial hardship due to the round-the-clock care Floyd required. The goal of the fundraiser is $5,000, and so far, $100 has been raised with support from the community.
On Facebook, friends and family have shared their thoughts and condolences, with messages from Andrew Kemblowski, Brenda Reynolds Lynn, and Sabrina Williams expressing their sympathy. Hope Walsh, who shared her gratitude for Floyd’s peaceful passing, also expressed the family’s struggle with the sudden loss and the financial burden it has created.
The love and support from those who knew Floyd will help carry his memory forward, as his family navigates this difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Floyd’s family, and may they find strength and comfort during this challenging time.
