Eugene Belshaw, Kennewick, WA — The community is mourning the loss of Eugene Belshaw, affectionately known as "Pops," who passed away on June 27, 2024. Eugene was 72 years old. He was a cherished husband, father, and friend, known for his love of fishing, hunting, playing pool, horseback riding, and camping.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Susie, to whom he was married for 40 years. He served in the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1976, a period that shaped much of his character and life. After his service, Eugene spent 21 years driving heavy equipment and another 16 years driving railroad crews, roles he thoroughly enjoyed due to the camaraderie and the nature of the work.
The loss of Eugene has left Susie, affectionately known as "Mama," managing their 5-acre farm alone. The financial strain has been compounded by delays in VA and social security benefits. To alleviate some of this burden, a fundraiser has been organized by Meranda Smith to support Susie during this difficult time.
The fundraiser aims to raise $3,500 to cover the costs of Eugene’s celebration of life, scheduled for July 13, 2024, at 1 pm, and to help with ongoing bills. As of now, the fundraiser is seeking its first supporters, with Meranda Smith urging the community to contribute and ease Susie’s financial load.
Eugene will be remembered for his deep love for his family and friends, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot fill. His memory will live on through the stories and moments shared with those who knew him.
