Esther Kiendi, Nairobi, Kenya— It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of Esther Kiendi, who recently passed away at the age of 18. Esther was a young woman who had faced many health challenges over the years, including ongoing kidney problems, which led to her frequent hospital visits. Despite her struggles, Esther remained a symbol of strength and resilience to those who knew her.
Esther had been supported financially by Marianne Van der Kruit since 2013, when she was just 7 years old. Through Marianne’s generous sponsorship, Esther was able to attend school and receive regular meals, which allowed her to experience a childhood that would have otherwise been out of reach. In addition to the financial support, Esther enjoyed occasional gifts and visits from Marianne, who remained a dedicated figure in her life.
Sadly, Esther’s health worsened over time, and she passed away, leaving behind a grieving family. Esther’s father and younger sister had already passed in previous years, adding to the family’s grief. With the hospital and funeral expenses beyond their means, a crowdfunding effort has been initiated by Marianne to help cover the costs. As of now, €225 has been raised, thanks to the kind donations from supporters.
On December 5th, Marianne’s colleague will be traveling to Nairobi to personally deliver the funds to Esther’s family, providing some much-needed financial assistance during this challenging time.
Esther’s death has left a deep hole in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her family. Her bravery and the love shown by those who helped her will not be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Esther’s family, and we extend our condolences to all who have been touched by her life.
