Enrico Haynes, Albany, GA — The community is mourning the loss of Enrico "Rico" Haynes, who passed away on July 10, 2024. Rico, known for his exceptional skills as a mechanic, faced numerous health challenges throughout his life but remained a dedicated and loving husband.
Rico was diagnosed with Spina bifida, diabetes, and high blood pressure, which confined him to a wheelchair. Despite these medical conditions, he continued to work tirelessly and was admired for his work ethic and dedication. Tragically, on July 7, 2024, Rico suffered a massive stroke that caused severe brain bleeding, leaving him on a ventilator. After tests confirmed no brain activity, his wife, Lachonda Douglas, made the difficult decision to remove him from life support on July 10, 2024.
Lachonda and Rico were married in 2019 and shared a deep and enduring love. His passing has left her in a challenging financial situation, as the insurance company declined to cover the burial costs due to his pre-existing conditions and the policy being less than two years old. Lachonda, who works part-time due to her own health issues, is unable to cover the $4,000 needed for Rico’s burial.
A fundraiser has been organized by Lachonda Douglas to help cover the burial expenses. As of now, $100 has been raised from a single donor, Joel Brown. The funeral home has given her until Thursday, July 18, 2024, to secure the necessary funds. The community is encouraged to support and assist during this difficult time.
