Eileen Kolaitos, New York, NY—Eileen Kolaitos passed away recently after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in May 2024, her condition deteriorated, and it was determined that she had only a few days left. Known by many as "Momma," "Mrs. Kolaitos," or "Pidgie," Eileen was a beloved member of the Upper West Side community for over 50 years, having moved to 83rd Street in 1969 and remained there ever since.
Her daughter, Kenna Kolaitos, has launched a fundraiser to honor her mother’s final wishes. The goal is to raise enough funds to cover funeral expenses and to fulfill her desire to be buried in South Dakota, next to her grandmother. Eileen also hoped to have a memorial service both in South Dakota and New York, and her family is working to make her dream of bringing her granddaughters to South Dakota come true.
The loss of Eileen has left a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community. Her family thanks those who have already contributed to the fundraising efforts, helping to ensure Eileen’s final wishes are respected.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Eileen Kolaitos’ family during this difficult time.
