Edward Vara, known affectionately as Eddie, passed away on September 16, 2024, at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by his loved ones. Eddie was a dedicated stepfather to four boys, whom he loved and cared for as his own, often coaching their sports teams and cheering them on from the sidelines. Despite his separation from his wife, Carmen Vara, the two maintained a strong bond, and she remained by his side throughout his final days in the hospital.
Eddie had been battling medical issues for the past few years, fighting hard to rebuild his health. Sadly, his journey came to an end, but his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
A fundraiser organized by Jessica Calhoun is currently underway to help cover the costs of Eddie’s funeral services, cremation, and a final farewell involving a special tradition of scattering his ashes while fishing—a hobby Eddie dearly loved. Carmen Vara is overseeing the arrangements for the services, with plans to announce more details soon.
At the time of this writing, the fundraiser has set a goal of $3,500, but as of now, no donations have been made. Supporters are encouraged to contribute and help provide Eddie with the service he deserves after dedicating his life to others and his faith.
