Don Jose Romeo Galvez Alonzo—The Los Angeles community is mourning the loss of Don Jose Romeo Galvez Alonzo, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who peacefully passed away on September 14, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in 1928, Don Jose, affectionately known as Don Chepe, was the last of his eleven siblings.
Don Chepe moved to Los Angeles in 1967 with his beloved wife, Rosa Alba Galvez Robles, with whom he shared a love for dancing and attending church at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He was a skilled shoe craftsman in Guatemala and later worked as a machine operator for Olympic Plastics in Los Angeles. His wife passed away in 2004, and now, by God’s grace, they are reunited.
His passing has left the Galvez family heartbroken, but they are dedicated to honoring his memory with a dignified and loving memorial. A fundraiser has been organized by Alfredo Galvez to support this cause, with a goal of $10,000. The family is deeply grateful for any donations, thoughts, prayers, and kindness extended during this difficult time.
We join the Galvez family in remembering Don Chepe’s gentle, loving, and generous spirit. Our hearts go out to the family as they prepare to say their final goodbyes.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Don Jose Romeo Galvez Alonzo. May God bless his soul and grant his family peace and strength.
