Dodge Long, Kingsford, MI— The community is mourning the passing of Dodge Long, a cherished father, fiancé, and friend. Dodge tragically passed away following a snowmobile accident on November 26, 2024.
On that fateful day, Dodge, along with his 9-year-old son, was testing a newly acquired snowmobile. What began as a routine outing quickly turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when Dodge suffered a medical emergency, causing him to lose consciousness. As he slumped over his son, the snowmobile accelerated, leading to a collision with a tree. Dodge and his son were ejected from the machine, and while his son sustained only minor injuries, Dodge’s condition was grave.
After being rushed to a local hospital and later life-flighted to St. Vincent’s in Green Bay, WI, it was determined that Dodge had suffered severe head injuries, including a skull fracture and massive brain trauma. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, his condition deteriorated rapidly. On the early morning of November 27, surrounded by family, Dodge passed away peacefully.
Dodge’s family has set up a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses and to establish a trust for his son’s future. So far, $350 has been raised from generous donations. The family has received support from friends, including Alissa Schahczinski, Diane Schabo, Carole Waitrovich, and Michael Chellew.
Dodge is remembered for his big heart, sense of humor, and his deep love for his family. His untimely passing has left an irreplaceable void, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
