Dickie D. Castillo, Cuba, NM Community Mourns a Beloved Member

Cuba, NM—The community is in mourning as they remember the life of Dickie D. Castillo, who passed away on August 7, 2024. Known for his warm personality and generous spirit, Dickie was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many with his inspiring and outgoing nature.

Dickie is survived by his loving wife, Gloria L. Castillo, and his four children—Sandra Lewis, Lydia Rafeal, Carlos Castillo, and Myra Castillo—along with his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The news of his passing has left his family and the broader community devastated.

In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Malia Castillo expressed her sorrow and announced the passing of her father, saying, "To my local community, friends & family, I am saddened to announce the passing of my father, Dickie D. Castillo. Husband to Gloria Castillo, Father of Sandra Lewis, Lydia Rafeal, Carlos Castillo, and Myra Castillo. My Dad was Taaneezhanii (Tangle Clan), born for Naakaaii Dine’ (Mexican Clan). We will be accepting donations at the Castillo residence in Cuba. Please keep my mother, siblings, and immediate family in prayer. Thank you."

In an effort to cover the funeral expenses and honor Dickie’s memory, his daughter Myra Castillo has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $7,500. The family is currently asking for any financial assistance, no matter how small, to help them through this difficult time.
