Diane Marie Kearsey (nee Rogozinski), age 75, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024. Diane was a devoted wife to the late Lawrence for 36 years and a cherished mother to Daniel (Shala) Kearsey and Robert Kearsey. Her legacy extends to her beloved grandson, Luke Kearsey, and her treasured sister, Janice (Frank) Tkacz. Diane was also a beloved aunt to many and is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Catherine (nee Sot) Rogozinski.
Diane was known for her joyous and warm personality. She was a proud graduate of St. John Cantius High School and a lifelong member of St. John Cantius Church. Her presence in the church choir was a highlight, where her beautiful voice brought comfort and joy to many. Diane’s talents were recognized early in life when she won awards for playing the accordion and typing.
A devoted fan of Cleveland sports, Diane also found pleasure in solving crosswords from the daily Plain Dealer and enjoyed reading and listening to oldies, particularly The Beatles. Her daily routine included watching "Young and the Restless" and playing games like rummy, Super Mario Bros. 3, Wii Sports, and Farmville, where she excelled.
Diane married Lawrence Kearsey in 1972. Before having their own children, they opened their hearts and home to several foster children, demonstrating their deep commitment to family. Sundays were special for Diane, spent at her parents’ house with family, enjoying dinners, card games, or simply sitting together in the driveway.
Professionally, Diane dedicated many years to the Cuyahoga County Public Library, retiring from the Bay Village branch in 2011 after working for Cardinal and Third Federal Bank. Despite facing health challenges following a stroke in 2011, Diane’s spirit remained unbroken. She continued to share smiles, laughter, and companionship with everyone she encountered in assisted living.
Diane’s family has set up a fundraiser in her memory to support her legacy. The goal is to raise $10,000, with $865 collected so far from eight generous donors. Among the donations are contributions from Yolanda King, Mary Stergiou, Melissa Ives, Brad Stoneking, and an anonymous donor.
