Dewaun Barber, Benton Harbor, MI—The Benton Harbor community mourns the passing of Dewaun Barber, a cherished father and friend who left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Known for his strength, Dewaun bravely fought Acute Myeloid Leukemia for over a year, initially overcoming the disease before it returned more aggressively, ultimately taking his life. He leaves behind four beloved children, two sons and two daughters, who will deeply miss him.
Dewaun’s journey became more challenging as, following his diagnosis, his employer unexpectedly terminated his life insurance policies, leaving his family to face additional hardships. His nephew, Tyrese Miller, has organized a fundraiser to support the family in their efforts to honor Dewaun’s memory and lay him to rest peacefully. So far, $1,630 has been raised out of a $10,000 goal through the generous contributions of 27 supporters. The community has come together, with donations continuing to pour in, showing an outpouring of love and solidarity for Dewaun’s family during this difficult time.
For those in Benton Harbor, donations are also being accepted in person at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home under Dewaun Barber’s name.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Barber family. May Dewaun’s memory bring peace and comfort to his loved ones, and may he rest in eternal peace.
