David Rogers, McAlester, OK— David Rogers passed away recently, leaving a significant void in the hearts of those who knew him. Born in Canadian, OK, David lived in the McAlester area for many years and spent over two decades serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Regency/McAlester Nursing Center. He was known for his selflessness and compassion, always going above and beyond to care for those in need.
David’s health had been a struggle for several years after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive and incurable condition. He also battled Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which made breathing increasingly difficult. Despite these challenges, David had remained a loving and devoted individual. Unfortunately, in December of the previous year, he experienced an aneurysm and a small stroke, which further complicated his health.
Throughout his life, David had been denied life insurance due to his health conditions and relied on social security disability. His daughter, Misty Canizales, had set aside rainy-day funds for his funeral expenses but had to use them months ago for a legal matter involving the guardianship of her nephew, following the loss of her brother.
Misty has organized a fundraiser to help with the funeral costs, and so far, $100 has been raised through the support of kind-hearted individuals. Donations are being accepted via GoFundMe, with any contribution deeply appreciated during this incredibly difficult time. The family is also accepting donations directly to Bishop Funeral Home in McAlester.
The outpouring of support has been heartwarming, as the community rallies together to help this family through their loss.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to David Rogers’ family, and we pray for peace and comfort during this time of mourning.
