David J Cervellino, Thomaston, CT—David J Cervellino has passed away, leaving a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. David was a respected Boy Scout, active volunteer, and dedicated veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force with honor and distinction.
David was passionate about giving back to his community, having spent many years as an active Boy Scout. His dream was to become an Eagle Scout and contribute to his community by building a podium in Hillside Cemetery to honor veterans. As the Troop Bugler, David took great pride in sounding "Taps" at numerous Boy Scout events and Memorial Day ceremonies. He was also honored to perform at Arlington National Cemetery.
In his later years, David’s commitment to his country and community remained steadfast, and he continued to volunteer by cleaning veterans’ graves and placing American flags. Unfortunately, David never had the chance to complete his goal of building the podium for veterans, but his family and friends are working to fulfill this dream.
A fundraiser has been created by Lisa Gardella to honor David’s legacy. The memorial project will fund the materials and construction of a podium with rails and a plaque in remembrance of David. The community has already shown tremendous support, with donations from Dave Breive and Jari Villanueva totaling $100.
Facebook tributes poured in, with Casey Shaw sharing, “I’m going to miss you David. Once family, always family. Fly high until next time.”
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of David J Cervellino. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this incredibly difficult time.
