David Chan, Edgewater, MD— It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Chan, a beloved figure in the local community. David tragically passed away on Thanksgiving morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking his dog, Copper.
David was well known as the hardworking owner and head chef of Dragon House Chinese Restaurant in Edgewater, where he and his wife, Winnie, dedicated their lives to serving delicious meals to the community. Even after retiring, David continued to support the restaurant, sharing his knowledge with the new owners. His unwavering commitment to his family and community was evident in every aspect of his life.
Beyond his work, David was passionate about dogs, especially Rottweilers. He was a respected breeder, dog show handler, and AKC judge. His mornings were often spent walking his beloved dogs around the Naval Academy, where he took great pride in caring for them with love and devotion. His legacy in the dog world is marked by his mentorship and the numerous champion dogs he raised.
David’s family and friends are mourning his loss, and his wife, Winnie, faces a challenging road ahead. A fundraiser has been set up to help cover funeral expenses and support Winnie during this difficult time.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, both through his contributions to the restaurant and dog communities, and through the kindness he shared with everyone he met.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
