Darla Kaye Goetz, Walnut Grove, MO—Darla Kaye Goetz, a beloved member of the Walnut Grove community, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Born on August 26, 1967, in Springfield, Missouri, to Jack Zinser and Mitzi Smith, Darla was known for her caring nature, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at CMH. She touched many lives with her kindness, creativity, and love for her family.
Darla was deeply passionate about cooking, painting, and gardening, with a particular fondness for roses and anything in pink or purple. She was in the process of fulfilling her dream of starting a food truck. Her enthusiasm for Halloween and dressing up brought joy to many, and she was well-known for her love of dance. Above all, Darla cherished her time with her grandchildren, who meant the world to her.
Darla is survived by her children, Michael Zinser, Zoila Lopez, Josie Block, and Julia Block, along with many grandchildren, her father Jack Zinser and his wife Brenda, and her brother Robert Slaughter. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mitzi Smith Slaughter, and her son, Carlos Lopez.
A visitation for Darla will be held today, Friday, September 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home in Walnut Grove. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 PM, where her life will be honored by family and friends.
Joshua Solomon has organized a fundraiser in Darla’s memory, with a goal of $750. Although the community has yet to reach the target, this effort reflects the love and support surrounding Darla’s family during this time.
