Cynthia Miao, a Vancouver-based real estate agent, tragically passed away in Switzerland after a fatal accident while climbing the Matterhorn on July 25th. At the age of 49, Cynthia lost her life doing something she was passionate about. Her passing has left her son, Will, and the Vancouver community in deep mourning.
Originally from northeastern China, Cynthia immigrated to Vancouver in 2008, where she worked tirelessly to provide for her son after becoming a single mother. Known for her dedication and warmth, Cynthia was deeply admired by her clients and friends alike. In addition to her work, she was passionate about various hobbies, including skiing, climbing, and gardening. Her sincerity and zest for life touched all who knew her.
The unexpected nature of Cynthia’s death has left many in shock. After nearly two months of legal procedures and identification processes, her body was cremated in Switzerland, and her ashes are currently being brought back to Vancouver. A Celebration of Life ceremony is scheduled for September 21st at Richmond Funeral Home, with her burial planned at Boundary Bay Cemetery.
In honor of Cynthia’s memory, a fundraiser has been organized by John Zhou to support her son’s future, covering living expenses and memorial services. The community is urged to donate, helping Will during this difficult time. Cynthia’s legacy of kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
We extend our deepest condolences to Cynthia’s family and friends during this time of immense grief. May her soul rest in peace, and may her son find strength in the love and support surrounding him.
