Curtis Lloyd Halverson, Isle, MN—The community of Isle is mourning the loss of Curtis Lloyd Halverson, who passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 84. Curt, as he was fondly known, was a man dedicated to serving others, a commitment that spanned his entire life.
Born on February 25, 1940, in rural Hutchinson, MN, Curtis Halverson’s life was marked by service and passion. He served in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in Puerto Rico, before returning to Minnesota, where he became a respected figure in his community. Curt dedicated much of his life to farming corn and soybeans and working for the county shop near Lindstrom, MN. Yet, his true passion was fishing. Whether it was weekends spent on Mille Lacs catching Walleye or later years fishing full-time on Malone Island, Curt found joy in every catch and in teaching others the art of fishing.
Curt’s move to Isle, MN, where he and his wife Bonnie joined the Malone Island community, was a significant chapter in his life. He became known as the go-to person whenever help was needed, always ready to lend a hand with his trusty Bobcat. He relished his breakfasts at the Dari-Vi and enjoyed dining out with Bonnie at local eateries. His passion for the lake was unmatched, as he loved both fishing and sharing that joy with others.
Curt was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Bernice Halvorson, and his brother, Roger Halvorson. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his brother David (Carol) Halvorson, his children Julie (Dawn), Curtis (Tracy), and Kimberly, and grandchildren Zachary, Dylan, and Olivia. Additionally, he is remembered by Bonnie’s daughters, Lisa (Scott) Roberts and Lori (Mike) Green, and their children and grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Curt’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Methven Funeral Home in Isle, MN, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Curtis L. Halverson Memorial Fund, which will continue Curt’s legacy of service to others.
