Seattle, WA—The community is deeply saddened by the passing of Constantina Chemaringo, a cherished mother, wife, and friend. Constantina passed away on August 8, 2024, after battling ALS for the past year. She was a resident of Seattle and an employee at Cascade Park Gardens in Tacoma, Washington, where she was highly regarded by her coworkers and employer, Chad, who treated her like his own mother.
Constantina was known for her love of gardening, her deep faith, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. Her smile was a source of comfort and joy to many. She leaves behind her loving husband, John Chemaringo, and her children, Serena Talaa of Houston, Texas, Tabala Chemaringo of Ft. Bliss, Texas, along with others in Kenya.
To honor her wish to be laid to rest in her home country of Kenya, her family, led by her daughter Serena Kiptoo, has organized a fundraiser. The goal is to raise $25,000 to cover the costs of sending her body back to Kenya and ensuring she receives a proper burial. The family is deeply grateful for any support, whether through prayers, emotional encouragement, or financial contributions.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Serena Talaa Marakwet shared, "It is with God’s acceptance that I share the passing of our beloved Mother Constantina Chemaringo, who has touched so many lives. Your support, whether through a donation or sharing this link, will make a significant impact in helping us honor her wish to be laid to rest in her home country of Kenya. Thank you for your kindness and generosity."
Other friends and family members also expressed their sorrow and condolences on Facebook. Titus Kipkemoi Rotich wrote, "Mutyo missin leiyee, May her soul find everlasting peace." Tabala Chemaringo simply but poignantly said, "Byee mum," while Philip Simbolei remembered her as a beloved figure in the neighborhood.
Arrangements have been made for friends and coworkers to pay their respects at Edwards Memorial Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington. The family plans to send Constantina’s body back to Kenya in 15 days, where she will be laid to rest.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Chemaringo family. May Constantina’s soul rest in everlasting peace, and may her family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
