Cihan Kenber, who arrived in the United States last year through the Mexican border in hopes of building a new life and supporting his family in Turkiye, has sadly passed away. Cihan had been struggling with asthma attacks for several years, and tragically, his friends found him unresponsive in his room in Hennepin County, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Cihan’s passing has left his family in Turkiye devastated. His parents have reached out to the community and provided legal documents to begin fundraising efforts to return Cihan’s body to them for burial. The fundraising is being led by Ahmet Donmez, a chaplain and funeral imam in Brooklyn, NY, who is seeking assistance to ship Cihan’s body to Turkiye for the burial service.
The fundraiser has raised $1,680 so far out of a $12,500 goal, thanks to the generosity of 21 donors. Imdat Uygun contributed $300, marking the highest donation, while Kazim Çınar made the first donation of $20. The recent donation was $15 from an anonymous donor. The community is rallying to help bring Cihan home to his family for his final resting place.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Cihan Kenber, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this challenging time. May Almighty Allah accept your good deeds. Amen.
