Christina Renee Dominguez, Houston, TX— The community mourns the loss of Christina Renee Dominguez, who passed away on July 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Christina was known for her strength, intelligence, and unwavering spirit.
Her husband, Alberto Herrera, has been profoundly affected by her passing. Christina’s battle began in December 2021 when she was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting her ovaries, liver, and lungs. Despite the grim prognosis and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, Christina defied expectations, living far beyond what doctors initially predicted.
Christina underwent several treatments, including a year-long chemotherapy regimen that initially showed promise by reducing the tumors in her liver and kidneys. However, the treatment took a severe toll on her health, leading to a switch to a more potent chemotherapy known as the "Red Devil." Unfortunately, this treatment proved ineffective, prompting further changes in her therapy, none of which succeeded in halting the cancer’s progression.
In July 2024, doctors informed her husband that she would not survive the Fourth of July weekend. Defying the odds once more, Christina lived through the entire month of July, surrounded by her loved ones. Alberto Herrera has since organized a fundraiser to help cover the expenses associated with her funeral and medical bills, with a goal of $6,300. So far, $20 has been raised, thanks to a donation from Jake Herrera.
The community has rallied around Alberto, offering their support and condolences. Barry Black shared the fundraiser on Facebook, urging others to donate or share the link to help the family during this challenging time.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Christina Renee Dominguez. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult period.
