Cheryl Lynn "Sassy" Leilani Bean, a cherished wife, mother, and friend, passed away on September 29, 2024, in Aurora, Colorado. Born on July 9, 1970, in Kamuela, Hawaii, Cheryl Lynn’s life was filled with adventure, love, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Graduating from Honoka’a High School in 1988, Cheryl Lynn became one of the few women truck drivers in Hawaii at the time, navigating the rugged landscapes and cane fields. Despite her diagnosis of lupus in 1996, followed by kidney failure in 2005, she never let her spirit fade. Her resilience was unmatched, particularly when she returned to trucking after receiving a kidney transplant in 2013, restarting her career with a 39-hour truck run that she embraced with joy.
Cheryl Lynn also pursued her passion for riding motorcycles with the Kukia Chapter of Oahu and later with the Harley Owners Group (HOGS) in Denver. She was born to ride, always finding freedom on the open road. Her connections with her fellow riders brought her joy and comfort during her most challenging times.
In 2016, Cheryl Lynn founded "Ladies of Hawaii Truckin’," a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Red Cross, Lupus, and Kidney Foundations. Through her nonprofit, she and the women involved built calendars, participated in community events, and traveled the nation, all while supporting causes close to her heart.
Her influence extended far beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of many through her kindness, strength, and radiant personality. Cheryl Lynn was not only an inspiration but also a role model for many women in her community and across the country. Her legacy will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.
Cheryl Lynn is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Ku’iokalani "Kui" Bean, and her loving daughter, Ariana Piercefield, along with her mother, siblings, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father and her two infant sons.
Funeral services will be held in Aurora, Colorado, with viewings scheduled for October 6 and 7, 2024. Following the services, her ashes will be scattered on the island of Hawai’i, as she wished.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cheryl Lynn’s family during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace, and may her family find strength and comfort in the memories they shared with her.
