Charles L. Davis, Calhan, CO—The family of Charles L. Davis is grieving the loss of a beloved father who passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, after a prolonged and difficult fight with colon and spinal cancer. His daughter, Brooklynn Davis-McNally, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the expenses for his cremation and memorial.
Charles was first diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in November 2018. He underwent surgery in January 2019, which led to the placement of a permanent colostomy bag. Despite medical interventions, the cancer returned aggressively, spreading to his spine in 2021. Over the following years, Charles endured extensive treatments and surgeries, but by August 2024, the disease had spread to multiple organs, including his lungs, kidneys, mouth, and brain.
Charles spent his final weeks in a nursing home under round-the-clock care. His daughter Brooklynn made a heartfelt trip to Ohio on September 26 to be with him during his last moments. Charles passed away peacefully on September 30 at 10:15 a.m., free from pain.
The cremation costs are estimated at $1,500, and Charles had expressed a desire to be honored through a living urn tree, a process that would cost an additional $250. Brooklynn is facing the financial burden of these expenses alone, as other family members have been unable to assist.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Davis family during this sorrowful time. May Charles L. Davis rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the love and support from those around them.
