Carlos Barco, Perry, IA— It is with deep sadness that the passing of Carlos Barco on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024, is announced. Carlos, a beloved father of Meylin, Yandi, and Marisa Barco, was well-known in the Perry community for his dedication and hard work.
Originally from Valle Nuevo, Guatemala, Carlos moved to the United States with his wife, Edith Barco. The couple worked at Tyson Foods, and on weekends, they sold food from their home. Through their relentless efforts, they eventually opened a successful restaurant, El Buen Gusto, which became a cherished establishment in Perry, Iowa. Unfortunately, due to immigration complications, Carlos and Edith were forced to return to Guatemala in 2018, and they were in the process of obtaining residency at the time of his passing.
Carlos’ sudden death has not only left his family in emotional distress but also with financial burdens. Ana Gomez has organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses, with a goal of $10,000. As of now, no donations have been made, but the Barco family is hopeful for the support of their community.
Carlos’ legacy of hard work and dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him. His passing leaves a significant void in the lives of his loved ones, and the Perry community mourns the loss of such a cherished figure.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to the Barco family during this difficult time.
