Cara Renae Norris-Baur, Illiopolis, IL—The community mourns the loss of Cara Renae Norris-Baur, who passed away on September 28, 2024. She was known for her warm, caring nature and a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles, horses, and cooking. Cara, who previously worked at Hardee’s, made a lasting impact by winning the Western Illinois Biscuit Baking Competition.
In her final days, Cara battled End Stage Renal Failure and was undergoing dialysis treatment. Sadly, she had no burial or medical insurance and was living out of her car, searching for a place to stay. Despite the hardships, she was always there to lift others up and make them smile, keeping a close bond with her daughters, despite the challenging circumstances they faced together.
Cara’s daughters, including Mariah Gilbert, have started a fundraiser to cover the costs of her cremation and provide a fitting urn for her remains. Mariah recalls their shared love for horses and the joyful memories they created playing together at their grandmother’s house. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
At this time, the community has shown their support, with Larry Gilbert donating $100 and Kathryn Billingsley contributing $25 to the cremation fund.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Cara’s family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
