Candace Sue Spradlin, affectionately known as Candy, passed away on October 16, 2024, at her home, after a courageous nine-year battle with colon cancer. Her family, including her husband Kurt Spradlin, by her side, is now mourning the loss of a beloved mother, wife, and friend. Candy’s resilience during her long fight against cancer touched the hearts of many, as she endured countless treatments, procedures, and surgeries with unwavering determination.
Born on April 5, 1964, in Tacoma, Washington, Candy was known for her vibrant spirit, her love for Alabama football, and her passion for crafting and photography. She cherished her time with family and friends, particularly enjoying evening walks on the beach. Her adventurous personality and warm smile left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
Candy leaves behind her high school sweetheart and husband of 43 years, Kurtis Lee Spradlin, as well as her children: Christopher Spradlin, Laura Rabbe, and Jamie Lynn Bryant. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jenna Bryant, Shiloh Degood, and Matthew and Luke Rabbe, among many other family members and close friends. Candy was predeceased by her parents, Berlin Coning and Sandra Murphy Coning, and her sisters-in-law, Rebecca Hart and Penny Coning.
In the wake of Candy’s passing, Jamie Lynn Bryant, along with her siblings, has organized a fundraiser to support their father, Kurt Spradlin, as the family faces overwhelming medical expenses and funeral costs. Many generous individuals have already contributed to help ease the financial burden during this time of grief.
Candy’s strength, love, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for her family.
