Camie Hampton, San Clemente, CA— Camie Hampton has passed away, leaving family, friends, and her community heartbroken. Camie, who lived her life overcoming incredible odds, was diagnosed with heart disease at birth and given just a 10% chance of living past the age of five. Yet, she defied the predictions and thrived for 22 years, touching the lives of all who knew her.
In October 2023, her health took a turn for the worse, and it was discovered that her heart was failing. After months of waiting and hoping, Camie finally received the news in October 2024 that a heart match had been found. On Saturday, October 5th, 2024, she underwent a heart transplant. The surgery initially appeared to be a success, and Camie was filled with hope for the future. However, just a day later, she went into cardiac arrest. Though doctors managed to revive her, her body began to fail as her organs, including her new heart, kidneys, and liver, started to shut down. Tragically, Camie passed away on October 10th, 2024.
Her family is now faced with the emotional and financial burdens of her passing, including medical bills and funeral costs. Brynne McGovern has organized a fundraiser on behalf of Melanie Hampton, Camie’s family member, to help ease the financial strain during this difficult time.
Camie was a shining light to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, and her strength and resilience were an inspiration. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
We extend our deepest condolences to Camie’s family and friends during this painful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this unimaginable loss.
