Born in Washington, D.C., Bruce grew up in the area and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served his country from 1972 to 1975. After his service, he met his beloved wife Catherine, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. In 2003, the couple relocated to Stevensville, where Bruce enjoyed life by the water, spending time boating, fishing, and crabbing. He was affectionately called the "Kent Island Cowboy," a nickname that reflected his connection to the community.
An avid sports fan, Bruce cheered for the Washington Commanders, the Washington Capitals, and NASCAR. He was also an active member of the American Legion, participating in events that supported fellow veterans. In his final days, Bruce found peace in his faith, having accepted Jesus Christ on October 9, 2024.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Catherine, their son Blake, his older brother John Roberts, his younger sister Phyllis Andrews, and his youngest stepbrother Ward Snow. His memory will be cherished by family, friends, and the entire Stevensville community.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, with a visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a service. Bruce will be honored with a military burial at Stevensville Cemetery.
