Bruce Green, Jim Thorpe, PA— Bruce Green passed away peacefully and comfortably in his home, surrounded by his loving family and grandchildren, after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. His passing has left the community in deep sorrow.
Bruce’s journey with cancer began on January 5th, 2024, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Despite undergoing rigorous treatments, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Bruce faced numerous complications, including a severe rash reaction that led to multiple hospitalizations. His resilience shone through as the original tumor shrank by 65%, giving his family hope. However, the cancer later spread to his rib bones, vertebrae, and liver, leading to a rapid decline in his health.
On August 5th, 2024, Bruce returned home on hospice care, where he spent his final days surrounded by those he loved. His family, including his daughter Cathrine Green, who organized a fundraiser, now faces the burden of significant medical bills and funeral expenses. Bruce, who had lost his ability to work and insurance, did not apply for social security or state insurance, leaving the family in financial difficulty.
Cathrine has set up a GoFundMe to help cover these expenses, with a goal of $10,000. So far, $125 has been raised through the kindness of donors such as Shirley Kirchdoerfer and Tammy Gruber.
The community’s outpouring of support is a testament to the impact Bruce had on those around him. The Green family is grateful for any help during this challenging time.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Bruce Green’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
