Bob Trevor, Harpenden—The Harpenden community is mourning the loss of Bob Trevor, a cherished figure who was instrumental in the local football scene. Bob, remembered as a manager, mentor, secretary, referee, and friend, was the glue that held the Harpenden Colts Old Boys (COB) together.
Bob Trevor, alongside Steve Oakley, founded the Harpenden Colts Old Boys in 2008 after several former youth team members returned from university seeking to reestablish the team. Bob’s dedication and passion for grassroots football were evident as he worked tirelessly to create opportunities for players of all ages. In 2019, Bob collaborated with COB’s Will to establish a reserve team, COBR, which secured two cups in its inaugural year and another in the following year, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In honor of Bob’s legacy, Sam Jones has organized a fundraiser titled "Bob Trevor Memorial Match & Football Beyond Borders." The fundraiser aims to raise £500 to benefit Football Beyond Borders, a charity close to Bob’s heart that promotes the benefits of football for youth development. As of now, £130 has been raised through nine donations, with contributions from individuals such as Freddie Warner, Stuart Wallace, Frankie Buckler, Nick Urwin, and John Addy.
Bob’s influence extended beyond the football field; he was a mentor and friend to many, providing guidance and support throughout the years. His commitment to the Harpenden Colts FC and his belief in the power of football to bring people together left a lasting impact on the community.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Bob Trevor’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
