Bob Robert Russell—The Bransgore community is grieving the loss of Bob Robert Russell, who passed away on July 21, 2024. Bob was a devoted father, loving partner, cherished brother, and a true friend to many. Known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need, Bob’s passing has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew him.
A fundraiser has been organized by Alun John and Nikki Papadopoulos to cover the costs of Bob’s funeral, as there are no funds available in his estate. The goal is to raise £6,000, and so far, £640 has been raised through the generous donations of Ian Wembridge, Anonymous, Alun John, and Nikki Papadopoulos.
Bob was fondly remembered by many on social media. Nikki Papadopoulos Van Varik shared, "Bob was always at my rescue for my crippling backache when needed with his miracle hands. Contributing to the GoFundMe to give Bob Russell the send-off he deserves is the very least I can do for him! Bob is irreplaceable, and I will miss him terribly!" Helen Butlin also expressed her wish to attend the church service to bid her final farewell to Bob.
A celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Friday, August 30th, starting with a service at 9:45 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Bransgore, BH23 8JH. Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to walk or carpool if possible. The service will conclude at 10:30 AM, followed by a bike peloton in honor of Bob’s love for cycling. His son and some of his cycling companions will lead the peloton to the New Forest Crematorium, Stem Lane, New Milton, BH25 5FH, for an 11:00 AM service. The crematorium service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
The wake details will be confirmed soon, and attendees are invited to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable, whether that’s a mourning suit, activewear, or Bob’s signature shorts and flip-flops. Those planning to attend are asked to reply to the post or send a message to help with preparations.
Bob’s family and partner Lyndsey hope the day will be a wonderful celebration of his life. Any surplus funds raised from the fundraiser will be donated to a cause close to Bob’s heart.
