Beverly Donna Yee passed away peacefully in her sleep on 09/05/2024, at the age of 65, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was surrounded by her family in Palo Alto, CA. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose impact on the lives she touched is profound and lasting.
Born on July 29, 1959, in San Francisco, CA, Beverly lived a life filled with achievements and love. She attended local schools, including Clarendon Elementary, Herbert Hoover Middle, and Lowell High, where she earned several awards for her academic and athletic accomplishments. Throughout her childhood, she participated in various activities such as basketball, flag football, track, and orchestra, and was active in the Chinatown community through her involvement with Cameron House.
Her passion for helping others guided her career in nursing, where she obtained her degree from SF State College in 1981 and later her Master’s from UCSF in 1988. For 36 years, Beverly worked at the Palo Alto Veterans Affair Hospital, serving in departments such as Blind Rehab, Geriatrics, and Cardiothoracic Surgery. Her dedication to her patients and her profession left an indelible mark.
In her personal life, Beverly found joy in family. She married her husband, Jon Yee, in 1983, and together they raised their three children: Stuart, Serena, and Sylvia. Beverly cherished spending time with her family, whether through their participation in Scouts, sports, or family road trips and camping adventures. One of her life goals was to visit all the U.S. National Parks, a passion she passed on to her children, having visited 56 of 63 parks together.
Beverly’s family and friends will celebrate her life on 09/19/2024, at the Palo Alto Alta Mesa Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are being directed toward the ALS Network in hopes of advancing research to find a cure.
