Bernard "Butch" Yates, Eaton Rapids, MI— Bernard “Butch” Yates passed away this past July, leaving his family in deep sorrow. A Navy veteran, Butch was known for his dedication and love for his family. His passing has left his grandson Caine and his aunt struggling emotionally and financially as they attempt to honor Butch’s wish to be cremated.
While Veterans Affairs has promised reimbursement for the cremation costs, this process may take up to six months. Unfortunately, the family does not have the $2,000 required to move forward with the cremation, leaving Butch still not at rest. In response, Caine’s mother, Jayme Sweten, has set up a fundraiser to gather the funds needed, setting a goal of $2,500 to cover any unforeseen expenses. Thus far, $25 has been raised by a generous donor, Robert Kimball.
The Yates family, particularly Caine and his aunt, are heartbroken that they have not yet been able to fulfill Butch’s final wish. Their community is invited to support them during this difficult time, helping to bring peace and closure.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bernard "Butch" Yates’ family. May he rest in peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in this time of grief.
