Barney Odette, Maine Community Mourns Beloved Musician and Father

Barney Odette, Maine—The community is in deep mourning after the sudden passing of Barney Odette on August 5. Barney was a cherished husband, father, and musician, known for his kind and thoughtful nature. He leaves behind his wife Chelsea and their two young children, Minoux (6) and Pip (3).

Barney’s unexpected death has left a profound void in the lives of his loved ones and the local punk scene. Known as the bassist of Down To Kill and a member of several other bands, Barney was remembered fondly by friends and fellow musicians. Maine Punk Nostalgia shared, "Barney was a loving father and husband, he really matured into a gentler and more thoughtful version of himself in the years between DTK and now."

Friends and family have been expressing their grief and memories on social media. Kate Savage posted, "This is so fucking sad. I’ve known him since I was 14 years old." Peri Starr added, "He was the fūkin man- we will meet again brother."

In honor of Barney, Lydia Mann has organized a fundraiser to support Chelsea and their children during this difficult time. The fundraiser aims to raise $20,000, and so far, $1,800 has been donated.
