Avery Pickle, Elberta, AL — The community is deeply mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Avery Pickle, who passed away on July 4th, 2024. Avery was a vibrant and beloved individual whose life was cut short under mysterious circumstances while swimming with friends.
Avery’s aunt, Natasha Vaughan, shared on Facebook the devastating news that Avery disappeared in the water, and efforts to silence his mother from seeking answers have added to the family’s grief. Natasha expressed, “My nephew #Averypickle went with some people on the 4th of July swimming. He mysteriously ‘disappeared’ in the water and the dad of one of the people there during this event, is trying to silence his mom from sharing information or asking questions about it on social media. They left him in the water dead, did not call 911, put his keys, wallet, and phone back in his truck then lied to everyone!”
The community has rallied around Avery’s family, with many sharing their condolences and calls for justice on Facebook. Meredith Schiltz Blair wrote, “This is awful! How can anyone do such a thing?” Brenda Harms commented, “There is definitely more to this story. Prayer to you and your family.” Others, like Dawn Parker and Xanthia Clark Kinney, have expressed their hopes for the truth to come out and for the family to find closure.
In the wake of this tragedy, a fundraiser organized by Vicki Crumpton on behalf of Christina Coleman has been set up to support Avery’s legacy and cover final expenses. So far, $390 has been raised out of the $12,000 goal, with contributions from donors including Aimee Lochrico and masyn hudgins.
Avery was remembered for his kind heart and the impact he made on everyone he met. The funds raised will not only help with his final expenses but any remaining amount will be donated to Elberta High School in Avery’s name, continuing his legacy of kindness and support for others.
The outpouring of support and calls for justice show how deeply Avery touched the lives of those around him. His memory will live on through the love and support of his family, friends, and community.
