Gaithersburg, MD—Atsu Ettey Hobuame passed away on July 20, 2024, after being in a coma for 22 months, leaving his family in profound grief. Mr. Hobuame was a beloved husband, father, and friend whose sudden departure has deeply impacted those who knew and loved him.
His widow, Abigail Amegbo, has expressed her heartfelt desire to fulfill her late husband’s final wish: to be laid to rest in his homeland of Togo, surrounded by the traditions and love of his people. Unfortunately, the costs associated with transporting his body from the USA to Togo, along with funeral expenses, are overwhelming for the family, with the total estimated at $15,000.
A fundraiser has been organized by Abigail Amegbo to help cover these costs, with a goal of $10,000. So far, $230 has been raised through the generosity of three donors: Comfort Xefu ($110), Esi Hlovor ($100), and Clarice Kanda ($20).
The family is reaching out to the community for support during this difficult time, whether through financial contributions or by sharing their story to help bring Mr. Hobuame home to Togo, where he can rest in peace as he wished.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Hobuame family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time.
