Arthur Tich Durnan, a cherished member of the Provanhall community, has sadly passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Wednesday, October 9th, 2024. Known by many as "Tich," Arthur was a well-loved figure in the Easterhouse area, having lived in Queenslie before moving to Drochill Street and eventually settling in Provanhall on Connisborough Road.
His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends. Arthur is survived by his wife Susan, his sons Thomas and Sean, and his daughter Jade, along with his six grandchildren: Kyle, Shanie, Sam, Corbin, Shay, and Lucas. His faithful dog Ted was always by his side. His siblings and in-laws from both the Durnan and Main families also mourn his passing.
The community has rallied around Arthur’s family during this difficult time. A fundraiser, organized by Charlene Law on behalf of Jade Durnan, has been set up to help the family cope with funeral costs. Contributions have already been made by kind supporters, including a top donation of £100 from Kimberly Gilfillan.
The news of Arthur’s passing has left many in shock. Mary Magow shared her grief on Facebook, writing, "Totally gutted and heartbroken still can’t believe it, on the passing of my brother-in-law Arthur Durnan aka Tich. You will be solely missed by all the family. Love and miss you forever more Tich. RIP."
Others have also expressed their sorrow, including Donna Ni Fhearghail who wrote, "Thinking of you all Mary," and Maureen Smyth who posted, "Thinking of you Mary and all the family at this sad time." A farewell will be held for Arthur, with viewing on October 22nd, followed by a final service at Daldowie Crematorium on October 23rd at 3:45 PM.
