Gene, a retired veteran, was a man of kindness and deep love for his family, especially his children and wife, for whom he was the primary caregiver. Despite battling cancer, Gene’s passing was due to a combination of other sudden illnesses, which resulted in cardiac arrest.
Gene’s passing came shortly after his birthday, and the community is rallying around his family to support them through this difficult time. A memorial fund has been set up by Ashley Payne, who shared her grief on Facebook, calling on friends and the community to assist with the memorial and final expenses.

“It’s with a heavy heart, we lost an amazing man ‘gpa Gene’ early Monday morning very suddenly. I’m asking for support from all my friends and the community to try to help my family with the memorial and last expenses since this was very unexpected. He was a beautiful man that served others always. He deserves an amazing farewell. My family has never been the type to ask for help but in this case, it would be an amazing gift to make this farewell special. Anything, a dollar, a share, word of mouth, would all be so appreciated and please pray for our family during this time.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support Arlin Gene McCray’s family, aiming to cover the costs of the memorial and the care for his wife, who remains in need of full-time assistance.
