Angelina Ortega, Santa Fe, NM— With heavy hearts, we share that Angelina Ortega passed away on August 29th, 2024, after a challenging 3-month battle with a severe infection. Angelina was surrounded by her loved ones, including family and friends, as she peacefully departed.
Angelina, a devoted 28-year-old mother, left behind her two children, a 6-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son, who were the center of her world. She worked as a pharmacy technician at Market Street until her illness began in early June. Angelina had hopes of becoming a pharmacist to provide a better life for her children, reflecting her deep dedication to their well-being.
Despite her own health struggles, Angelina remained hopeful about returning to work and continuing to support her family. Her compassion and warmth touched many lives, both within her family and among those she worked with and helped as a pharmacy technician. Friends and family remember her as a bright, loving individual whose infectious smile could light up any room.
Her passing has left a deep void in the lives of her children, parents, and all who knew her. In the wake of her loss, her parents have stepped in to care for her young children, ensuring they grow up surrounded by love and support.
A fundraiser organized by Isaiah Roybal has already raised $4,300 out of a $5,000 goal, with donations coming from friends, colleagues, and members of the community who were touched by Angelina’s life. Contributions, including $1,000 from Mark Zinkula and $500 from Isaiah Roybal, are intended to cover funeral expenses and help bury Angelina alongside her baby brother, who passed away in 2013 at just 6 ½ months old.
Our hearts go out to Angelina Ortega’s family during this unimaginable time. We extend our thoughts and prayers to her children, parents, and all those grieving her loss. May her memory live on in the love and joy she brought to others.
