Alicia was a loving mother of two boys, Tito (15) and Germaine (11), and her life was marked by extraordinary resilience and strength. At 45 years old, she succumbed to melanoma cancer after surviving numerous health challenges.
Alicia’s journey was one of remarkable perseverance. From the age of eight, she battled Type-1 diabetes. In 2013, she was diagnosed with melanoma and bravely fought it into remission for eight years. In 2015, she faced another hurdle with Castleman’s disease, undergoing surgery to remove a tumor. In 2021, she was diagnosed with leukemia, enduring high doses of chemotherapy and surviving a three-week coma, followed by a life-saving bone marrow transplant in 2022. Despite her relentless fight, melanoma progressed, leading to her untimely passing.
Her passing deeply affects her family, especially her sons and her retired parents, who were her primary concern. To support them, Amanda Graham and Andrea Tait have organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover educational expenses, daily needs, and emotional support for her children.
The community has shown an outpouring of support and sympathy through touching Facebook posts. Corrine Ament wrote, “Today we lost our beloved Alicia. After battling leukaemia last year and surviving a bone marrow transplant, at 45 years young she lost her hardest battle to melanoma cancer. A bright light, a big heart and a special part of my life. She leaves behind a husband and two sons. We weren’t prepared for you to go so soon Alicia, but Janet and Amelia are waiting for you so fly high my sweet angel. I will miss you terribly xo.”
