Alanna McAusland—The Reading community is deeply saddened as they come together to remember Alanna McAusland, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 31st of July. Alanna, only 25 years old, was a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, whose bright spirit and infectious smile touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington’s disease at just 11 years old, Alanna faced her challenges with remarkable strength and courage. Despite the difficulties, she never let anything dim her joy or determination. Her sister, Jade Mcausland, described Alanna as a prankster with an infectious laugh, a love for Minions, and a passion for everything pink. Alanna’s zest for life was evident in her love for 1 Direction and her unwavering positivity.
The family has organized a fundraiser to help cover the costs of Alanna’s funeral and to provide a headstone that befits the vibrant life she lived. The campaign, created by her sister Jade Mcausland, has so far raised £715 of the £2,500 goal, thanks to the generous contributions of friends and family. Donna Stacey made the top donation of £175, while Jenny Clarke offered the first donation of £20.
The funeral service for Alanna McAusland will be held at the Reading Crematorium on the 3rd of September at 2:30 pm. Those who knew Alanna, affectionately known as “Lann,” are invited to celebrate her life at The Crown Pub in Playhatch at 3:45 pm, with the theme of the gathering set to her favorite colors, pink and white.
In heartfelt Facebook posts, friends and family have shared their memories and paid tribute to Alanna. Ellie Clark fondly remembered, “A beautiful pick of Lann, always smiling no matter what X.” The outpouring of love and support from the community highlights the profound impact Alanna had on those around her.
