Aimee Huard, Saskatoon, SK — The community is mourning the loss of Aimee Huard, who passed away suddenly on June 27, 2024, in her home. She was 39 years old and was recently diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, vasculitis granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Aimee was a beloved fiancée, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, known for her playful spirit and love for life.
Aimee’s sister, Jessica Huard, has expressed her deep grief and mixed emotions in a heartfelt Facebook post. She shared, "I wrote Aimée’s obituary yesterday… seeing it online has made me feel so sad. I feel lost, with no direction. I have no idea what I’m doing anymore." Jessica highlighted the bizarre and painful nature of grief, expressing how she oscillates between moments of happiness and profound sadness.
Jessica has organized a fundraiser in memory of Aimee, aiming to raise $5,555, a number symbolizing change and transformation. So far, $230 CAD has been raised from six donations. Jessica plans to donate the majority of the funds to the Vasculitis Foundation Canada and hopes to take Aimee on a final farewell trip for her 40th birthday. Contributions from generous donors like Tim Holt, Teresa Miller, and Les Andersen have begun to support this cause.
In addition to her fiancée, Brendan Croke, Aimee is survived by her son, Darien Rousseau; her parents, Michelle (Corbeil) & Travis Schafer and Robert Huard; her siblings, Jessica Huard and Christopher Schafer; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Bud & Hilda Huard, Roseanne Corbeil, and her aunties, Cheryl Nolan and Gaetanne Beaudoin.
Aimee was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and grew up with a vivid imagination that she carried into her adult years. She pursued a career in early childhood education in Saskatoon, where she could express her playful nature. Known for her love of loud music, dancing, and writing, Aimee’s vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A celebration of Aimee’s life will be held at a later date, coinciding with what would have been her 40th birthday in September. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vasculitis Foundation Canada and YMCA Saskatoon to honor her memory and support further research into her condition.
