Agnes Muiru Wangari, Austria— It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Agnes Muiru Wangari, who tragically left us on November 21, 2024. Agnes, a beloved daughter and friend, had been battling leukemia since 2022, and although she showed great strength during her fight, her health ultimately deteriorated.
Agnes was known for her vibrant spirit and kind heart. Originally from Kenya, she moved to Austria at the age of 20 to pursue a brighter future. Despite the challenges she faced, Agnes thrived in her new home, building a life of resilience and purpose. However, the past few years were filled with great difficulty as her health condition worsened.
She was deeply cherished by her family and the community in Austria, and her untimely passing has left a void in many hearts. Her widowed mother, who wishes to have Agnes laid to rest beside her late father in Kenya, is currently facing the difficult task of repatriating her daughter’s remains. To help fulfill this final wish, a fundraiser has been launched to cover the costs associated with transporting Agnes’ body back to Kiambu County, Muchatha Village, Gathanga Town, as well as funeral and burial expenses.
The fundraiser has so far raised €1,200, with generous donations from individuals like Srecko Zeravica (€1,000), Polly Kamau (€100), and an anonymous donor (€100). Those who have contributed and shared their thoughts about Agnes on social media include Grace Odhiambo, who expressed deep sorrow, and Anne Mairwöger, who wrote, “So this beauty is gone, may her soul rest in peace.”
We extend our deepest condolences to Agnes’ family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time. Our thoughts and prayers are with her mother and everyone who knew and loved Agnes.
May her soul rest in peace.
