Agnello Mendes, Irving, TX— It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Agnello Mendes, a cherished member of the University of Dallas community. Agnello passed away unexpectedly on November 14th, 2024, leaving a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.
Agnello, who had served as the Manager of COB Services since 2011, was known for his warm and welcoming nature. His generous spirit touched countless individuals, from students to colleagues, at the University of Dallas. He was always there with a smile, offering snacks to students late at night and going above and beyond to make others feel at home. His thoughtful gestures, like Christmas ornaments purchased at his own expense, showed the depth of his care.
Many tributes have poured in from those who worked with him, recalling his kindness and dedication. "Agnello was a very kind, thoughtful, caring, and generous individual," wrote Susan Horak. "He took good care of the grad students and we appreciated him more than words can express." Maddie Vondrachek shared, "Angello was such a kind face to be greeted with whenever entering SB Hall. And he never failed to provide snacks on a long study night."
To support Agnello’s family during this difficult time, a fundraiser has been organized by Zelma Mendes, with a goal to assist with the memorial and funeral costs. Donations are being accepted on GoFundMe, and as of now, $200 has been raised towards the goal.
As we mourn Agnello’s loss, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. Agnello’s legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
We are deeply saddened by Agnello Mendes’ passing and offer our prayers for peace and strength to his family during this heartbreaking time.
